The United States National Academy of Sciences has set the latest recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for calcium at 1,000 to 1,300 milligrams (mg) a day. They give an upper limit of 2,500 mg daily. A calcium overdose can lead to kidney damage and other problems. However, most of us do not get anywhere near the RDA of 1,000 to 1,300 mg.
Moderation in All Things
Too much of anything can hurt you, even water. Before taking calcium supplements such as Coral Calcium, look at your diet and see if you are already getting enough of the mineral.
